book review: Labor of love by Cara Muhlhahn
I was so excited to order this book! For my Childbirth Educator course i have many books on my booklist...but when ordering on Amazon i decided to treat myself to a couple of books written by midwives, about BEING midwives. I've wanted for a quite a long time to be a midwife someday, and even though this book made me want to be one even more, it also made me take a step back and wait...for a bit. The way of life for a midwife is anything but boring, but it comes with HUGE sacrifices. Cara Muhlhahn is honest, sincere in her passion for birth, and is an excellent clinician to boot. She shares some of the hurdles she's had to face as well as her journey to where she is now. This book does not make midwifing seem like the romantic notion so many of us have in our heads...it shares the realities, challenges, and joys of one of the most demanding pursuits i can imagine. Read the book!
